What Is Safe Mode In Windows 10

Safe Mode is a diagnostic startup mode in Windows 10 that allows you to troubleshoot and fix problems on your computer. When you start your computer in Safe Mode, only the most essential programs and services are loaded, which can help you identify and fix problems that may be causing issues with your computer.

To start Windows 10 in Safe Mode, you can follow these steps:

  1. On the sign-in screen, hold the shift key while you select Power > Restart.
  2. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  3. After your PC restarts, you’ll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or, select 5 or press F5 to start your PC in Safe Mode with Networking.

In Safe Mode, the desktop background will be black, and all non-essential programs and services will be disabled. You’ll also see the words “Safe Mode” in all four corners of the screen.

You can exit Safe Mode by restarting your computer normally. When you restart your computer, it will boot into normal mode and all programs and services will be enabled again.
